Pork producers realizing value of capturing energy from hog waste
June 8, 2006
One of the hot topics at the
World Pork Expo is the potential for farmers to capture and re-use useful energy from their operations. One way is to capture the waste methane from hog-waste lagoons using
lagoon covers. That methane can be re-used to generate electricity, which simultaneously reduces air pollution and creates a new, saleable commodity for the farmer.
