Water well permits become a rarer commodity
April 22, 2009
Nebraska Governor
Dave Heineman has signed
LB483 into law, which
makes it harder to get water well permits in areas where rivers are approaching their maximum use. The issue came to the forefront because the Lower Platte River basin
went back and forth between a "fully appropriated" and less than fully appropriated over the last four or five months. The
new law creates some new discretion for the local authorities to halt further well permits from being issued.
