Another dry year is possible for western Nebraska
February 14, 2008
Nebraska's state climatologist has told a water conference that
western Nebraska faces strong odds of another very dry year. Specifically, he thinks La Nina could cause a
wet spring followed by a dry summer, which would compound the problem by delaying planting and then stunting crop growth. He thinks times will be especially hard on farmers who use irrigation.
