Kansas issues threats to Nebraska over water allocations
January 2, 2008
The top water official in Kansas has
sent a letter to the Nebraska NRD demanding compensation for crop losses in his state in 2005 and 2006, and
calling for Nebraska to shut down thousands of irrigation wells. The Kansas attorney general is
threatening to sue over the matter, and Nebraska's governor and attorney general are
defending their handling of the water dispute.
