Soil erosion, and why city dwellers should care about no-till farming
July 16, 2007
The EPA is trying a pilot program to
subsidize a set of farmers as they try to convert their operations to no-till practices. The idea is that no-till practices can help reduce the number of tractor passes (thus cutting air pollution) and offset erosion -- which, in turn, can help protect water quality for the huge numbers of city residents who drink surface water or groundwater under the influence of surface water.
