An article in the
Mason City Globe-Gazette discusses the
difficult balance between raising food and ensuring the safety of our natural water supplies. One of the biggest ongoing concerns is how to use animal manure effectively (it's an outstanding crop fertilizer) without letting it contaminate rivers and streams (where it can endanger drinking water).
