Ag looking at Conservation Reserve acres to ease corn shortage

Huge increases in the demand for corn due to the
ethanol boom have caused many to wonder where the corn will come from. One widely-circulated suggestion is to
use millions of acres currently in the Conservation Reserve Program, which is intended to provide a buffer between the land and waterways. While those acres could be useful for producing much-wanted corn, they are also important to protecting
drinking water supplies.
