Flooding to cost New Hampshire town $1 million
May 23, 2006
Catastrophic flooding like the type that hit New Orleans last year isn't the only kind that causes damage. Flooding in
Newmarket, NH, could cost
well over $1 million, just due to heavy rainfall. Some floods can never be fully avoided, but others can be mitigated on a large scale by the appropriate use of
flood gates,
stormwater containment, and
lined stormwater lagoons. Individuals and businesses need to ensure that they have appropriate
sump pumps in place to manage soaking rains.
