Flooding exceeds Grand Island's wastewater capacity and knocks out Mason City's water plant
June 9, 2008
Flooding throughout the Midwest has disrupted basic
water and
wastewater services in a number of places. Most prominently,
Grand Island, Nebraska, is having trouble managing the amount of stormwater reaching its wastewater plant, causing city officials to call for emergency water-conservation measures, and
Mason City, Iowa, has been without drinking water service since Sunday due to flooding. Communities and individuals needing assistance locating
portable pumps and other emergency-relief equipment for their water and wastewater systems may
contact us with any questions they have.
