Iowa WPCA asks EPA to reject tougher nitrogen standards

The Natural Resources Defense Council has petitioned the EPA to tighten regulations on the release of nitrogen and phosphorous from
municipal wastewater treatment plants in Iowa. The Iowa Water Pollution Control Association has
sent the EPA a response suggesting that if tigher nitrogen and phosphorous rules are applied to Iowa communities, many will be bankrupted by the cost of the additional equipment required.
