Florida power outage: A reminder of the need for backup power
February 26, 2008
While we in the Upper Midwest have been going through a nasty winter that has threatened power supplies on several occasions due to high winds and ice storms,
much of southeastern Florida has just experienced a massive power outage that may have affected
3 million homes and businesses. Even when the power goes out, people still need access to clean water and basic sanitation, which is why
engine-backup lift stations can be such an excellent choice. They often cost less than a lift station with a full generator, and they certainly lead to fewer headaches than the sewer backups that can occur when electricity becomes unavailable.
