EPA approves huge upgrade in Iowa water-quality standards

approved Iowa's revised water-quality standards, which considerably
tighten restrictions on water pollution largely by upgrading the level of water quality required in a huge number of streams and rivers. The EPA estimates that 14,000 miles of waterways in Iowa have been upgraded to higher standards.
