Turning wastewater into gold

An Arizona town has sold its treated wastewater to a New York investment firm. The reason municipal wastewater can be sold for cash is that Arizona restricts developers from building unless they can prove they have a guaranteed water supply. As water recycling becomes a larger component of American water use, recycled-water sales should become a more regular occurrence.
