2007 is already the 7th-wettest year in Iowa's history
October 23, 2007
While our fellow Americans are suffering wildfires in California and drought in the South, Iowans are experiencing an incredibly rainy year. Even if no more precipitation were to fall through the end of the year, this would still be the
7th-wettest year in Iowa's recorded history. Given normal patterns, there's little doubt this will be a top-five year for rainfall by the end of December. Average rainfall is just over 32" in a year, and we've already had more than 40.5", so we're already more than 25% above the full-year average. That means it's time for
sump pumps and
engine-driven portable pumps across much of the state.
