Friday's rains were especially heavy in Des Moines

Parts of the Des Moines metro area received almost four inches of rain on Friday morning. That undoubtedly put some heavy demand on sump pumps in the area. Homeowners might want to look into battery-backup sump pumps to provide an extra level of security in case heavy rains come with winds and lightning that could knock out power lines (and thus keep conventional sump pumps from working).
