Next two weeks "critical" to Iowa's groundwater

Soil moisture values have plummeted over the last few weeks in Iowa, with most of the soil down to just 15% moisture content throughout the entire root zone for corn. That means that not only are lawns in danger, but the corn crop (and the
ethanol supply) as well. Conditions are getting
especially bad in the north-central part of the state, where some of the best corn-growing land is found.
