Normal summer weather for the Midwest, but wildfires in the Southwest

While the long-range outlook for summer weather suggests that we in the the Midwest will have a reasonably average summer in terms of temperatures, California and Nevada are emerging from a
record dry season and should have no expectations of improvement over the summer, according to the
Climate Prediction Center at NOAA. That makes the outlook for wildfires pretty bleak.
