Heavy clay soil makes drainage difficult

A USA Today story highlights how the
flat land and heavy clay soils of the Plains can make some parts of our region slow to dry out after heavy rains. Some of the rivers of the upper Missouri basin are
well above flood stage, and for the
first time in a long time, most of Iowa and Nebraska are both
out of drought stage.
