Long Island faces a crisis in disposing of treated sewage

The more-crowded parts of the US (like the East Coast) face a one-two punch when disposing of treated sewage: First, high concentrations of people produce large volumes of waste. Second, urban areas don't have the same natural uses for treated waste - like land application of biosolids - that rural areas do.
