Water, electric pumps, and nuclear power

The
Duane Arnold nuclear power plant
near Cedar Rapids had to shut down on April 2nd due to an electrical problem that
cut off electricity to some of the plant's water pumps. Electrical power generation is by far the
biggest user of fresh water supplies in the US. Interesting factoid: The plant is
70% owned by Florida Power and Light.
