Half-million gallons of wastewater bypassed into river
March 29, 2007
The town of
Milton in southeastern Iowa has
bypassed more than 400,000 gallons of partially-treated wastewater into a tributary of the Des Moines River. The lagoons have reached their maximum capacity, and the city was concerned that sewer backups would occur without the bypasses.
