Some new attention paid to aging infrastructure

Most of the public is probably not aware that the overall state of the nation's
civil infrastructure is getting worse. It's mostly a matter of under-investment over time, and there's really no escaping the fact that water and sewer rates will have to rise in most places in the foreseeable future in order to pay for new pipes, pumps, and treatment plants. A huge share of the nation's water infrastructure is well past due for replacement.
