Drought conditions deepen across central US
July 25, 2006
One county in south-central Iowa is now
almost 11 inches below normal for precipitation this year, which effectively creates a water crisis for the area. As noted by the state climatologist, once conditions get that abnormally dry, local weather patterns start to feed upon themselves - so instead of getting relief, drought-plagued areas get more drought. The problem of water shortages is a strong reminder about the importance of
water recycling.
