Spilled oil still a problem in New Orleans

The EPA is trying to figure out
how much damage was done by oil spilled when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. While catastrophes like Katrina are fortunately rare, they highlight the need for
secondary containment using geomembranes at all sites that routinely manage petroleum or other chemicals. Even
seemingly minor spills can lead to big fines from the EPA.
