Palmer-Bowlus Flumes:
All dimensions are per the United States Department of the Interior Water Measurement Manual. Flume side walls are 1/4" thick. Each Palmer-Bowlus flume typically has an overall length of four times the throat width, plus 1" (i.e., 10" Palmer-Bowlus flumes are typically 41" long).
An isophthalic polyester resin is used throughout in fabrication, with all inside surfaces having a 15-mil layer of white gelcoat containing UV inhibitors.
A 2" wide by 1/4" thick flange is typically located along the top edge of each flume. In addition, each flume ordinarily has three 2" x 2" x 1/4"-thick fiberglass angles mounted across the top flange. All workmanship is in accordance with the NBS PS 15-69 product standard.
